War of The Worlds

RG Jones debuted Martin Audio’s revolutionary new MLA PA on a huge surround sound system for the latest version of War Of The Worlds

  • War of The Worlds

RG Jones returned to provide the huge surround sound system that is an essential part of the latest production which is the biggest and most exciting yet featuring 11-foot high 3D photo-real floating hologram of Richard Burton, as George Herbert, The Journalist, a 3-tonne, 35-foot tall Martian Fighting Machine firing real flame Heat Rays at the audience & scanning them with bug-like eyes and a member of the cast is to be incinerated on stage right in front of the audience’s eyes!! Most significant for RG’s however, and the audience we serve, is the UK touring debut of Martin Audio’s revolutionary MLA system.

“A show such as this requires sonic precision and  a sound system that can really deliver” explains sound designer and FOH engineer Simon Honywill, “Jeff has exacting standards and vision and this ground-breaking loudspeaker system allows every last detail of a very complicated musical score to be delivered with power and clarity to every seat in the house. A critical part of the show is the original recording of Richard Burton’s narration, and more than ever before every last inflection of this iconic voice is there for all to experience”.

RG Jones has held a long standing relationship with Martin Audio Ltd that spans over many years and we are very excited to debut their latest product on a UK tour  – MLA (Multicellular Loudspeaker Array) which has been describe as a “paradigm shift in tour sound”.

The tour began at The Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam and the response from the audience was quite something when they leapt to their feet at the close of the show. The day after the opening night found the forums crawling with raving reviews click review, and by the second night there was an atmosphere that had to be felt to be understood. Micha Bergese, Director of the show approached Simon at the end to tell him “The sound was so good, I felt like I could actually reach out and grab it”!
