The 5 x 5k corporate road relay, starting and finishing on the Olympic Stadium, took in key landmarks in Olympic Park including the aquatics centre and Orbit Tower. Supported by the rest of the company, who preferred to experience the stadium without having to work up a sweat.  All our five runners did really well with a decent total time of 2:04:09.  Despite best efforts, we didn’t win, but had an inkling it might be a stretch when we saw some of the team names such as the winners “The London Marathon”!  Our congratulations to The London Marathon who came in at 1:22:39.  Team Captain and RG Jones Communications Director Sarah Gellas  “We’re really proud of our team.  It was brilliant night and we are planning on running a few more teams next year, and it was great that it followed on from the Games over the weekend”.

RG’s engineer Rob Powell was a star.  He worked on the engineering team, ran the race at a staggering 21mins, and then stayed for the derig. So he gets Runner of the Race!

The Diamond Relays were the very last event on the London 2012 Olympic track before it is re-surfaced in time for the 2016 season and the 2017 World Championships, seeing our runners follow in the footsteps of The Greats such as Bolt, Farah and Ennis.  Now then…back to work!
