  • Three days of Celebration for The Queens official birthday

This high profile service marked the start of three days of celebrations for The Queens 90th birthday. Archbishop Welby gave his sermon to a congregation of more than 2,000.  Born on 21st April 1926, Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of York was never expected to be Queen.  But she is the longest reigning and oldest monarch in British History, and the first to reach 90.  Many high profile attendees were among the 2,000 including David Cameron, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and may other members of the Royal Family.  Sir David Attenborough quoted from Michael Bonds’ (Paddington Bear) person account of growing up to be 90!  “Always wore a hat, even when swimming in the sea, in case he met someone he knew”.

RG Team 2 were waiting at The City of London, Guildhall to receive the distinguished guests for a thanksgiving reception.  Most of the Royal family and high profile guests joined the Lord mayor of London, Jeffrey Mountevens to pay tribute to the queens “unfailing service” to the nation.

Heavy rains have not dampened spirits for the British public celebrations, and ponchos were included in the hampers of food for the Patrons lunch.  The Queen gave a speech to thank everyone for support and encouragement and hoped the happy celebrations remind us of many benefits that can flow when people come together”.
